In the animal world, metamorphosis signifies the transformation when a caterpillar becomes a butterfly. Inside its cocoon, the caterpillar dissolves its cells, leaving only its vital organs (its soul). Within the cocoon, the dissolved cells re-pattern into a butterfly.
